Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book Discussion
I held my monthly book club meeting last night. We discussed (and almost acted out in its entirety) Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. After showing the kids how to do a basic sketch of the main character, each child thought up one funny idea and tried to write a short journal entry about it with an illustration. I wrote one up as an example:
Then we discussed the different characters by filling in this character chart.
All in all, one of the funnest book discussions I’ve had. The kids were lively but totally focused on the book. Everything they said related to a passage in the book. All of them are eager to get their hands on Books 3.

Why not have them act out their favorite scenes? The Wimpy
kid is also easy to draw. Could make funny holiday cards with the Wimpy Kid characters?
